Active and Passive Computed Tomography for Waste Assay

چکیده

For characterization and activity distribution of radioisotopes in nuclear waste, Active and Passive Computed Tomography (A&PCT) method can be employed. During the Active CT measurements, an external gamma/X-ray source is used to determine the attenuation map of the object. With this knowledge of the attenuation map, the Passive CT measurements are then carried out to reconstruct the activity of gamma sources inside the object. In this paper, experimental studies on A&PCT imaging for dummy waste drums carried out in Emission tomography lab at Purnima, BARC has been discussed. The reconstruction has been done using iterative techniques such as ART, MLEM and OSEM. The paper will describe the experimental results and comparison of the iterative reconstruction techniques with analytical reconstruction technique.
